Eravikulam, a part of the district of Idukki is a beautiful location situated very close to the marvelous hill station of Munnar. Located in the midst of lovely grasslands over an area of 97 square kilometers, Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary was established for the conservation of the endangered Nilgiri Tahr. Today, Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary houses the most number of Nilgiri Tahr in the world. The Wildlife Sanctuary houses many other animals like Gaurs, Elephants, Langur, Leopard, Tiger, and Lion-tailed Macaque.

Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary has a pleasant climate throughout the year. However during monsoon which is between June and August, Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary receives heavy and erratic rainfalls. April and May are the hottest months at the Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. The best time to visit the Wildlife Sanctuary is between September and December. January and February are also good to visit Eravikulam Wildlife Sanctuary.
