Porbandar Bird Sanctuary

Porbandar is not only known as birth place of Mahatma Gandhi but also for its captivating bird sanctuary called “Porbandar Bird Sanctuary” ! The sanctuary is situated in the core of Porbandar and serves a wonderful pause from the hustle bustle of city lives! Though the Porbandar Bird Sanctuary is not very huge in area (1square kilometer) but is enough big to leave you enamored!

Porbandar Bird Sanctuary is home of several local and migratory birds like curlews, wildfowl, ibis, teals, and numerous others. Avocets, lamingos, pelicans, spoonbills, jacanas, terns, herons, shovellers, whistling teals, little grebes, pintails, little cormorants, coots, red ruffs and shanks are some of the main attractions at Porbandar bird sanctuary!

The Porbandar Bird Sanctuary is well connected by the main cities of Gujarat. From Porbandar bus station, railway station and airport, the sanctuary is just 5 kilometers! Also, you can hire cabs, taxis, autos and buses to the Porbandar Bird Sanctuary! The finest time to tour the sanctuary is during October to March.
